Boeing -- has diversity hiring played a large roll in recent quality control problems?

It's a honest question!

Does hiring people to perform complex and critical jobs based on their race, rather than their performance and track record make any sense?

If you were going to the Doctor, would you want the BEST -- or just someone who skated thru college under an affirmative action program?

I'd like to think when it comes to building large commercial jets that fly above us all day and night that only WELL QUALIFIED people would be hired to assemble them!

Recently here in the USA there has a been a SPATE of near deadly incidents -- from cabin doors flying off, to wheels falling off, to landing gears failing to work -- even an engine fire! And all of these except the cabin door happened within the last 72 hours!

Why are we allowing this to happen? Boeing is a US company with both it's factories located in the USA (West Coast) -- the Boeing 737 Max 9 seems to be the planes built during COVID and also seem to have the worst safety records.

Not sure what is going on with this model, but it already has a 300+ body count from a few crashes in Asia!

Some are saying it's because of COVID protocols while others point out diversity hiring practices introduced at the same time... If you ask me it was a double whammy and BOTH have contributed to this abysmal record!

But we can never take our eyes off the fact that Boeing is a publicly traded company -- and that liberal or stingy executives and shareholders could be the root cause of all the problems!

All I know is when I get on a commercial airliner I'd like to think it was built by qualified workers based on their skills -- rather than meeting some diversity quota imposed. But that's just me... I don't have my own personal jet like all the big wigs.

It would be a shame to see Boeing go under -- because we all know the Government would bail it out. But if things keep going like this, or if another one of them crashes and people die -- it could get VERY ugly for Boeing! It's already pretty ugly!

Yo,

I voted NO...(You raised some great points Stellar btw).

1. Boeing is a US-of-A Defence contractor, so it has many resources.

2. Really cheap flights means little-to-no maintenance.

3. COrona VIrus Disease 2019 also meant that many people who could, left the industry to avoid the "jab", from pilots, engineers, ground-crew etc etc.

4. Aeroplanes are maxed-out in use, so as to keep the turbine-blades warm, so its flight-after-flight-after flight, 24/7/365.25. ( The turbines shyte themselves & crack from the cold to hot heat-cycles, so they keep-them going once up-in-the-air...( Ask Shawnee )).

Yes,

It seems that as the Military Industrial Complex & its corporate face start losing a grip on controlling its assets via the truth & whistle-blowers, the "wet-works" option puts an end to the squeaky voice...

These mofo's need to remember they are public servants, first & foremost.

And illegally funnelling tax-dollars for USAP's needs to stop too.

All I'm alluring to here, is that we mastered "gravity control" several decades ago, & don't need them any-more anyway.

This is simply milking the US-of-A tax-cow & flight customers for all its worth, whilst supplying parts from the lowest bidders to increase profit.

*Here's a link to Mr.Dan Willis's personal update on the original "2001 National Press Conference" where he was an original witness that offered & gave testimony...The reason for the up-date, is that a number of these original witnesses have been murdered in recent times, simply because their testimony would open the door to the USAP's, & stop all the "UAP bullshyte" that the illegal / secret gov't is now dishing-out to the people of the US-of-A. Since these people have been removed, there's no testimony, & so nothing for Congress to investigate.

Sick world, & all for greed, whilst depriving the world of the truth & the right to evolve with the rest of the universe.

Here you go, this is a great summary that answers many questions, including the original thread posts.

It's also important to realize that some of these instances, such as a wheel falling off an older plane that such a defect is NOT the fault of Boeing -- but rather the Airline who mainatins the plane... I'm in no way saying that it's all Boeings fault, but I'd be hard pressed to get on any newer 737 Max 9 or similar jet by Boeing... honestly, anyone willing to get on one should be afforded a nice multi-million dollar award to their family should one go down -- regardless if it's Boeing's fault or the airline! At least here in the USA, none of the defects have caused any deaths -- but overseas the 737 Max 9 has a body count of 300...

No doubt flying is risky business -- even with an aircraft that is in top order... but as a passenger I'd like to feel like no expense is being spared in the building and subsequent maintenance of said commercial airliner. If all these issues bring about better change across the industry -- and provide guaranteed life insurance of a sizeable amount -- then yes, it will have been worth it! Providing a plane full of people don't have to die in order to get it done. Seems like we have been lucky so far in the fatality department -- at least here in the USA -- but this isn't one of them things you want to wait and see... Boeing and the industry needs to get ahead of this before people even start to take steps to avoid their planes! I know Boeing has Government contracts -- but the loss of reputation could be irreversable if they don't get ahead of it.

Just my two cents.

Every day I am hearing of a new Boeing problem... yesterday it was the engine cover on a Southwest plane from Denver to Houston ripped apart on takeoff, and then another one today about an engine fire on a United Airlines flight from Houston to Florida!

WTF is going on here? Have these sorts of things always happened but just weren't reported in the past -- or is this something where proper inspections and maintenance just arent happening?

If we go back in time we used to have access to super-sonic air travel that would take you from NYC to London in just 3 hours! Just ONE of them Concorde planes went down and that was it for the entire line! Nothing has replaced it since! How can we be moving forward when the best of air travel was in days past? You see the head, leg and arm-room on old airline advertisements? Loads of room and near lazy boy plush seating! Not only that but they used to serve meals that were hand carved on a serving cart! Now days you're lucky to get a bottle of water and you're packed in like sardines! Seats are generally sparsely padded and uncomfortable.

Doesn't feel like we're moving forward... feels like we are going backwards in the air travel sector.

If things keep going this way for Boeing, it's possible their only contracts will be with the Government as the public will soon consider them too risky to board.

To answer the title question of this thread, I have seen many instances of white people putting out extremely poor quality workmanship. While possible, I'm not sure diversity hiring had anything to do with this.
