2018-2019 Chevrolet Traverse Rear Tail light assembly removal and replacement

Recently had a friend with a new 2019 Traverse get a busted tail light assembly. Being so new there was really no information out there except for the earlier 2017 and older models.

Making this thread for everyone who might make the MISTAKE of assuming the 2017 and 2018 are the same - THEY ARE NOT! The earlier 2017 is WAY easier to replace as the newer generation 2018's and 2019's! Read that as you better quote a few hours because removal of the plastic quarter trim, wheel flare, bumper cover and wheel well is required! It was so flipping bad that I even made a video to warn everyone,

https://youtu.be/oWun5QuOO8Q

Apparently with the new design of the 2018 and up using an LED tail light they do not anticipate anyone removing them to change bulbs, that being the case that tail light is covered my many layers of interconnecting plastic that you must be VERY careful with! I feel sorry for anyone doing this job ten years from now when all that plastic is brittle and filled with road grime and dirt!

Anyway, don't say I didn't warn ya! LOL

You might as well peel an onion while doing this job because you're going to be crying! LOL

That was painful to watch.

I'd probably replace the stock fenders with aftermarket fender flares along the way.
